Well, I have been lobbying my servants/parents for the past week for a sibling.
Well, to my surprise they agreed! Well, kinda. My servants are going to have a
kid soon and they said that I could be his big brother! How cool is that!!!
I wonder if that means I am not getting a Beagle sibling?!?!?!?! I hope not!!!
I will have to get back to you on that one.

Famous Beagles - Entry 2

The world is full of famous Beagles. Last time, I spoke about Snoopy, the World's Most Famous Beagle. This time around, I present you, the HMS Beagle.

HMS Beagle was a Cherokee class 10-gun brig of the Royal Navy, named after the Beagle, a breed of dog. She was launched on 11 May 1820 from the Woolwich Dockyard on the River Thames, at a cost of £7,803. In July of that year she took part in a fleet review celebrating the coronation of King George IV of the United Kingdom in which she was the first ship to sail under the new London Bridge. After that there was no immediate need for Beagle so she was kept in reserve for five years and "lay in ordinary", moored afloat but without masts or rigging. She was then adapted as a survey barque and took part in three expeditions. On the second survey voyage the young naturalist Charles Darwin was on board, and his work would eventually make the Beagle one of the most famous ships in history.

"What Should I Ask For?" Poll Results Are In!!! Update

Update in bold.
In response to my poll on what I should ask for for P.P.P.P.,
I will be asking for a sibling!!!

In a big surprise, I had 8 people weigh in!!!
WOW! I thought I only had a 4 person readership.
6 of you voted for a sibling and 2 of you voted for a new bed.
That being said, I have always wanted a little brother or little sister.

Now, here is hoping my servants/parents will buy my argument
and buy into the persuasiveness that is my 8 person poll.
I will keep you updated on my lobbying efforts.
(Maybe I should hire Karlheinz Schreiber to do my lobbying.)

And get your dog ready for P.P.P.P.!!!

(This is a photo of me when I was but a young fart.)
(Thanks Kim for the photo.)

A Beagle By Any Other Name Would Still Be Hungry

As you know, I am a Beagle.
But what exactly is a Beagle?
Well here are some questions answered:

The Beagle has an even temper and gentle disposition. Described in several breed standards as "merry" they are amiable and not generally aggressive or timid. They enjoy company, and although they may initially be stand-offish with strangers they are easily won over. They make poor guard dogs for this reason, although their tendency to bark or howl when confronted with the unfamiliar makes them good watch dogs; in a 1985 study conducted by Ben and Lynette Hart the Beagle was given the highest excitability rating along with the Yorkshire Terrier, Cairn Terrier, Miniature Schnauzer, West Highland White Terrier and Fox Terrier. Beagles are intelligent, but as a result of being bred for the long chase are single-minded and determined, which can make them hard to train. They are generally obedient but can be difficult to recall once they have picked up a scent and are easily distracted by smells around them. They do not generally feature in obedience trials; while they are alert, respond well to food-reward training, and are eager to please, they are easily bored or distracted.

Beagles are excellent with children and this is one of the reasons they have become popular family pets, but they are pack animals, and can be prone to separation anxiety. Not all Beagles will howl, but most will bark when confronted with strange situations, and some will bay (also referred to as "speaking","giving tongue" or "opening") when they catch the scent of potential quarry. They also generally get along well with other dogs, but can be excitable and may bay. They are not demanding with regard to exercise; their inbred stamina means they do not easily tire when exercised, but they also do not need to be worked to exhaustion before they will rest, though regular exercise helps ward off the weight gain to which the breed is prone.

According to the Oxford English Dictionary, the first mention of the beagle by name in English literature dates from ca. 1475 in the Esquire of Low Degree. The origin of the word "beagle" is uncertain, although it has been suggested that the word derives from the French begueule (meaning "open throat" from bayer "open wide" and gueule "mouth") or from an Old English, French, or the Gaelic word beag, meaning "little." Other possibilities include the French beugler (meaning "to bellow") and the German begele (meaning "to scold").

What Should I Ask For?

As you might not know, Puppy Paws Public Pandemonium (P.P.P.P.) is an international holiday celebrated on the last Saturday of December, and created by yours truly, where your servants will grant dogs their every wish. Although, no matter how much I beg, I doubt my human servants will ever give me all the food I want, but I digress.
I am asking you, the readers(the entire 4 of you) to help chose what I want for P.P.P.P.
Vote below and and I will post the results on Friday, December 14.

What should I ask for for P.P.P.P.?
I will lobby my servants based on the results.
Sibling
Collar
Big Bone
New Bed
Can Of Wet Dog Food

Help!!!

Help this little lady beagle find a home.
Daphne is a very very high energy young beagle that will need a home that has the time to work with her. Daphne does suffer from separation anxiety so if you are considering her please research this issue. If you would like to adopt this or another pet, please call the SPCA at 857-8698 or check out its website at www.monctonspca.ca. This feature appears daily to assist the SPCA in finding good homes for these animals.

Top 5 Animals I Hate!

There are some animals that just bug the crap outta me:

5. Golden Retrievers (they just think they're SSSSSOOOOOOO cool)
4. Cats (animals who clean themselves so often MUST be hiding something)
3. Squirrels (I hate those greedy buggers)
2. ALL birds (it's in my genes)
1. Big humans, unless of course they feed me ('nuff said)
